HISTORY: A picturesque Italianate villa in the manner of H.E. Goodridge, which visually and historically forms a group with the De Montalt works [q.v.]. The Goodridge attribution is strengthened by the fact that Goodridge¿s architect son Alfred lived here around 1870. Another occupant was John Whitaker, furniture manufacturer and proprietor of the De Montalt Works. SOURCE: Peter Addison, `Around Combe Down¿ (1998), 7 3, 93-94.
