House, now flats. c1775 (lease dated c1774) converted C20. Probably by Thomas Warr Atwood; developed by The Corporation of Bath and Richard Atwood.
MATERIALS: Limestone ashlar to front and rear, double pile parapeted mansard roof, Welsh Slate to front, artificial slate to rear, with coped party wall to left with two ashlar stacks with some early clay pots. Staircase to rear.
EXTERIOR: Three storeys, attic and basement; three window front. First floor has three plate glass horned sashes in plain reveals with architraves removed and jambs splayed, with friezes and cornices over and lowered moulded stone sills on cut down console bracket. Second floor has three plate glass horned sashes in ovolo moulded architraves with stone sills. Ground floor has to left two plate glass horned sashes in plain reveals with splayed jambs with stone sills, to right eight panel door with fielded panels with cast iron wreath knocker in cyma moulded architrave with flat surround with heavy moulded console brackets supporting moulded cornice forming hood over, pennant paved crossover with large slab to centre, flush with pavement, has cast iron footscraper. Basement has one six/six sash in plain reveal with stone sill, to left similar sash now with lower part of window infilled, C20 glazed door in ashlar infilling under crossover, limestone area steps with pennant treads now partially rebuilt in concrete have wrought iron handrail. Three single dormers with plate glass sashes. Band course over ground floor; modillion eaves cornice and coped parapet. Rear elevation has full height canted bay with six/six sashes to ground floor, second floor and in two single and two double dormers, nine/nine horned sashes to first floor, two with wrought iron balconettes.
INTERIOR: Not inspected.
SUBSIDIARY FEATURES: Attached wrought iron railings and gate with shaped heads on limestone bases.
