House, now flats. c1754 with C19 and C20 alterations.
MATERIALS: Limestone ashlar, now painted to front, rubble to right side and rear; double pile parapeted mansard roof, Welsh Slate to front, double Romans to rear, with two ashlar and rubble stacks with early clay pots to rear on coped gable wall to right.
EXTERIOR: Three storeys, attic and basement; three window front. First floor has three two/two sashes in splayed reveals with lowered stone sills; second floor has three plate glass horned sashes in cyma moulded architraves with stone sills. Ground floor has to right two plate glass horned sashes in splayed reveals with stone sills, to left six panel door with fielded panels with two pane overlight in plain reveal with splayed jambs; one step to Pennant paved crossover with pair of C19 cast iron footscrapers. Basement has six/six sash and similar tilt opening window in plain reveals with stone sills, C20 door with overlight in ashlar infilling under crossover; C20 area steps. Two single dormers with six/six sashes. Timber bressummer over door to left of ground floor; modillion eaves cornice and coped parapet continuous with No.34 Belvedere (qv). Lead hopperhead to left. Rear elevation has C19 and C20 two light casements giving onto balcony, plate glass sashes to ground floor and second floor, C20 windows to double dormer; ashlar extension to basement; lead hopperhead at eaves to right.
INTERIOR: Not inspected, but recorded by Bath Preservation Trust in 1991. This notes a central staircase with octagonal roof light and decorative plasterwork; the staircase is a dog-leg open string wooden stair with three balusters per tread. Grey marble chimneypieces with cast iron grates. Six panel doors, moulded architraves.
SUBSIDIARY FEATURES: Attached wrought iron railings and gate with shaped heads on painted bases.
HISTORY: No.35 was part of a larger house originally, which included Nos.34 & 36; No. 35 has the principal rooms and main staircase. In c1861 this was a `Home for Idiot Girls¿ (Census).
