Walls and railings. Early C19.
MATERIALS: Limestone rubble and freestone, iron railings.
Revetment wall in High Street approx 40m long and 3m high, contains south end of gardens to front of Nos 24-30 Church Street (qv). To left of centre flight of pennant stone public steps flanked by ashlar piers, that to right has cornice and block cap. Wall in front of No.28 has banded rustication, cornice, frieze and blocking course over tall railing gate leading to private steps, that to No.30 has small planked door. At top of steps, to north side of gardens in Church Street low walls to former railings. Thick rubblestone, some with swept coping. To west of steps tall mid C19 cast iron lamp standards.
