Terraces of houses and pensioners' bungalows enclosing a square. 1974-6 by Ralph Erskine's Arkitektkontor; site architect Vernon Gracie; structural engineer, White, Young and Partners; main contractor, Shepherd Construction. Pale metric modular brick on timber frame, with dark green weatherboarding to Nos. 2 and 7 Brinkburn Square. Blue metal roofs supported on plywood box beam purlins. Nos. 3 and 4 Brinkburn Square are single storey, the others two storeys. Nos. 1, 2 and 9 with plastic door hoods Nos. 5-8 with projecting porches of green weatherboarding under blue catslide roofs. Nos. 12-18 Brock Street have yellow weatherboarding to rear eaves, a rare use of this colour, with green, white and red below and raised attics at either end of terrace. Timber windows with aluminium opening lights; timber doors with glazed panel, some renewed in hardwood. Interiors not inspected but not thought to be of special interest. The group forms a square, the distinctive idiom of the Gordon Road neighbourhood.
