Former Schoolroom

GV II
Former schoolroom. Mid C19. Red brick with brick plinth and Welsh slate roof. Simple Tudor style with complete set of cast-iron diamond-lattice windows set in limestone surrounds which are themselves set back within brick frames.
Front facing road has projecting gabled porch with studded and battoned plank door under brick Tudor arch. Single-light windows in sides. Either side of the porch the front has a taller single-light window. The gable ends have a 3-light window with a single-light in the attic and there are 2 3-light windows to the rear which has a slightly projecting stack which has been reduced to eaves level.
INTERIOR. The single space has an open hammer-beam roof and a studded and battoned inner door to the porch.
This is an unaltered example of a small schoolroom of the period with a complete set of original windows and surviving interior. As such it is very unusual. It also forms a good group with the adjacent Church of St.Peter (q.v.).
