Description

GERRANS

562/0/10006 GERRANS SQUARE
12-OCT-04 Finger signpost at SW873351

GV II
Road signpost. Circa early C20. Cast-iron. Slender tapered post with incised barley sugar moulding, ring-moulding half-way up and necking, coving and ball-finial at top. Three arms with pointing fingers at the ends and the names inscribed: Portscatha; Tregoney and St Austell; Portcuil and St Anthony [old spellings of Portscatha, Tregoney and Portcuil].
This is a good early example of a county council road signpost with pointing fingures on the arms.
