Barn with dovecote. Early-C18 with possible C16 timber framing, and minor-C20 alterations. Stone plinth, brick walls mostly in Flemish bond, timber trusses and wall posts, pitched roof with C20 tiles. 6-bays.
INTERIOR: North east bay has brick interior walls with advanced brick courses above which regular pattern of removed bricks for nesting boxes. Roof has tie beams with raking struts to collar; double purlins clasped to principal rafters. Some slightly curved wind braces. Smoke blackening to north east bay. Trusses to south west end have 3 shorter struts to collar with V-struts above, redundant mortises and pairs of peg holes show originally a partitioned bay.
HISTORY: Frodesley Manor was built for was built in 1594 for Edward Scriven. In the C19, Frodesley Hall Farm was an extensive dairy farm, and the manor house was taken down and rebuilt c.1880.
