Probably pair of cottages, now one. Late C17 with mid-to late C19
addition and later alterations. Rendered timber frame on painted
rubble plinth; uncoursed grey sandstone addition with red brick
dressings; plain tile roofs. 2 framed bays at right angles to road
with later addition to south-east. One storey and attic and 2
storeys. North-east front: C17 part to right has two C20 raking
semi-dormers with 2- and 3-light leaded metal casements and integral
brick corner stacks to front; addition to left with higher eaves
and brick ridge stack. Right-hand part with central first-floor 2-
light wooden casement, ground-floor C20 two-light metal casement to
right and C20 leaded half-glazed door to left with side-lights and
flat porch; left-hand part with first-floor C20 one-, 2- and 3-
light metal casements, ground-floor C20 two- and 3-light metal casements,
and evidence of central blocked doorway. Boarded door with
gabled porch at rear of C17 block. Interior of C17 part: collar and
tie-beam end truss with queen struts, central collar truss with V-struts,
single purlins with wind braces; unchamfered beams and joists; two C17
corner fireplaces, one with early C19 surround; probably C17 or C18
staircase; complete timber frame surviving (see jowls).
