20/12/72 Farmhouse

GV II

Large barn. C15 altered C20.
MATERIALS: timber frame, weatherboarded, exterior of south end
has frame exposed with painted brick infill on high brick
plinth. Old tile roof with lower hipped extension on north.
Slate roof on north-east.
PLAN: long rectangular plan of 8 framed bays, gabled midstrey
in fourth bay from north, on north-east side. Lean-to
extension each side of midstrey.
EXTERIOR: C20 casement windows in lean-to extension and one
window in midstrey, which has been weatherboarded over.
INTERIOR: queen post roof with clasped purlins and reducing
principal rafters. Jowled posts with long arch braces to tie
beams. Curved windbraces. Rafter holes at feet of rafters on
south side, some rafters have been replaced.
