Farmhouse, now house and office. C15, extended C16, altered
early C19.
MATERIALS: timber frame encased in painted roughcast at front
and sides, tile hung at rear. Steeply pitched, old tile gabled
roof.
PLAN: U-plan with 2 crosswings and 3 gables facing front.
EXTERIOR: 2 storeys. Large brick chimneys on left and right; a
large brick chimney part tile hung at rear; all offset with
corniced heads and clay pots. Smaller brick chimney on right
side, towards rear. High weathered plinth, exposed rafter and
purlin ends. Sash windows with glazing bars, in slightly
projecting moulded wooden frames.
Entrance front to north-west nearly symmetrical. 4-bay
windows. Single bay gable projecting each side of centre
section which has gable rising flush from wall. Gable on right
has 3 windows on ground floor. Left hand gable was originally
close studded on both floors. 2-bay centre section with
re-positioned entrance door of 6 fielded panels approached by
4 steps. Rectangular overlight, moulded wooden frame with
cornice over.
INTERIOR: many exposed beams, those on ground floor in right
section are chamfered with shield stops; the others are plain.
C17 inserted partition, also in the right section, with
doorway, chamfered frame and square head; also chamfered.
First floor on the external wall of right hand crosswing
evidence of former gardrobe. Redundant crown post roof with
clasped purlins, and curved windbraces.
