Cottage, now house. C16, altered C17, C18 and C20.
MATERIALS: Timber frame with painted brick infill, part
painted bricks, old tile gabled roof.
PLAN: L-shaped plan of 2 x 1 framed bays.
EXTERIOR: 2 storeys. Large projecting gable chimney at left,
C17 diagonal shaft chimney at rear with tall, louvred, clay
pot. South-east (street) front: brick faced; plinth, plat band
at first floor, and dentilled cornice. 3-bays, 2 and 3-light
casement windows with lozenge iron latticed glazing, in flush
box frames. North-east (entrance) front: single bay gable with
later applied timber framing. C20 plank entrance door in C17
porch with engaged columns and heavy dentile cornice.
INTERIOR: large exposed beams on ground floor; close set
joists and shield stops; old plank floors. C17 wainscoting in
hall. Inglenook chimney in drawing room, and another old brick
fireplace in kitchen. A 3-light C17 diamond-mullioned window
on former external wall, now part of hall.
Hill House, adjoining on the north-west, is not included.
