House, now offices. c1800 with later additions and
alterations. Reddish-brown brick in Flemish bond with stone
sills and stuccoed doorcase; plain tile roof with tall end
stack, oversailing courses and pots; cast-iron basement
covers. 3 storeys, 4 first-floor windows. Ground and first
floors have 6/6 sashes; second floor has 3/3 sashes, all in
plain reveals and with sills, flat arches of gauged brick.
Attic has 2 box dormers with 3/3 sashes. Off-centre right
entrance, 3 steps to 6-raised-and-fielded-panel door, frieze
and fanlight with gothic glazing bars, plain reveals and
imposts. Doorcase has pilasters and plain corbel brackets,
frieze and moulded cornice. Basement has two 6/6 sashes with
thick glazing bars and cast-iron basement covers with scrolled
sides, third blocked opening and cast-iron shoe scraper.
INTERIOR: noted as retaining original joinery including
panelled shutters and plasterwork.
All the listed buildings in College Yard (qqv) form a good
group and part of the setting for the Cathedral (qv).
