Offices, including former Constitutional Club, and originally
known as Bradford Buildings, now night club (ground floor) and
offices. c1870. George Woodhouse, architect. Red brick with
blue brick and stone dressings, graded slate steeply pitched
roof. Venetian Gothic style.
EXTERIOR: 2 storeys, asymmetrically planned with No.25 forming
separately roofed block to the right, a 4-window range.
Arcaded windows on each floor, with banded heads, and
trefoiled lights to first floor. Doorway to left.
No.27 forms a 5-window range to the right, itself
symmetrically planned with gablets over outer bays, and
central entrance.
Sash windows to ground floor, with flat stone heads, and
stilted arched arcaded windows above, with central shafts
dividing them. Depressed arched heads to basement windows.
Sexfoiled lights in gablets. Modillion eaves cornice. Gothic
detailing is continued in the rear elevation, which includes a
white glazed brick courtyard.
INTERIOR: not inspected.
SUBSIDIARY FEATURE: wrought-iron railings on chamfered stone
plinth wall, with cast-iron lantern bases each side of steps
to No.27.
