Beach Huts: Nos 1-20 (Consecutive)

20 beach huts. c1920. Brick, rendered and painted with slate
roofs.
EXTERIOR: two rows of beach huts with central service building
topped with parapet and curved top gable. Central circular
window flanked by plank doors with glazed panes now boarded
and flanking windows, also boarded. The roof-end gables have
plain bargeboards and half timbered gables. Both rows of huts
are linked by side walls, the lower row has a front terrace
with painted wall and symmetrically sited 2-flight staircases.
INTERIOR: not inspected.
This group of beach huts are exceptional, not only are they
very substantially constructed, they have survived totally
unaltered and they are unusually elaborate examples of
Inter-War architectural design.
