Villa. c1832-50. Ashlar over brick and concealed roof, with
stucco right end stacks.
EXTERIOR: 3 storeys on basement, 3 first-floor windows between
wings of 2 storeys on basement, 2 first-floor windows. Stucco
detailing includes quoins to angles, first- and second-floor
bands; cornices on console brackets to entrance and ground-
and first-floor windows; crowning frieze, architrave and
pediment. Central entrance a panelled door with overlight with
margin-glazing. Ground- and first-floor outer windows are
tripartite with 2/2 sashes where original, otherwise 2/2
sashes, those to second floor, outer windows are paired. Wings
have end breakforwards with pediments. Quoins to
breakforwards, first-floor impost band. Inner ranges have
narrow 3/2 and 2/2 sashes, outer breakforwards have casements,
those to first floor have round arched heads and radial
glazing, keystones. Low parapet with copings. Rear has
extended single-storey range with 3 round-arched windows with
casements and crowning pediment.
INTERIOR: not inspected.
HISTORICAL NOTE: land for the development of Parabola Road was
sold in 1837, following the death of Revd Richard Skillicorne
(1834) for ยป50,000 to the Bayshill Estate Company. The Estate
also included Bayshill Road and St George's Road.
