Memorial clock tower. 1926, for Davis Green. Timber-framed with plastered panels. Stone tile roofs. Square plan tower in three stages, the lower stage has octagonal plan loggia with carved brackets to the posts which rise through the pentice roof to form pinnacles above; pinnacles also at the corners of the second stage which is close-studded, has cusped headed windows and wrought-iron clock face on east side; belfry above with pyramidal roof with gablets and weathervane, and with four bells. Under the loggia there are benches with carved strapwork panels above , inscribed with the verses from Annie Hilda Green's poem The Silverdale Clock Chimes' NOTE: This tower was built in the garden of Ash Hill House for Davis Green [a local industrialist] as a memorial to his first wife Annie Hilda Green who died in 1926. The inscriptions are verses from her poem The Silverdale Clock Chimes'.
