Monument. c1900. Granite. 4 sided polished pink granite
obelisk and base set on stepped stone base. Erected by
"Captain the Hon. Hedworth Lambton, C.B., officers and ships
company of H.M.S. Powerful", to "The memory of the officers
and men of the Naval Brigade to H.M.S. Powerful who were
killed in action or died during the campaign in South Africa,
1899-1900". Inscriptions list those who died and the following
place names: Ladysmith, Graspan, Belmont, Moddere River,
Paardeberg.
