Pair of houses. C18/early C19; No.52 altered late C20. No.51
red brick in Flemish bond, No.52 stuccoed. Plain tile hipped
roof, brick stack to right on No.52 and rendered shortened
capped stack to left on No.51.
EXTERIOR: 3 storeys and attic, 1 bay each. No.51 had door on
left with 6 moulded and fielded panels, and overlight with
lattice glazing bars, pilasters with bracketed flat hood
carried across bow window. 2 stone steps with attached guard
rails. To right a tripartite 2-storey bow window with central
12-pane sash and 8-pane flanking sashes, panelled aprons,
reeded pilasters dividing lights on first floor, frieze and
modillion cornice on each floor, the friezes ornamented with
vase and swag mouldings. No.52 has 16-pane C20 sash on ground
floor; 1st floor has similar bow window to No.51 but with
plain frieze. 12-pane second floor sash to Nos 51 and 52, that
of No.51 set under rendered flat arch. Dentilled brick eaves
band to No.51, plain band to No.52; coped parapet. No.52 has
hipped dormer and No.51 has C20 dormer. On right return No.52
has 6-panelled door at centre set under rounded arch. Flanking
sashes of 16 panes on ground floor, 12 panes on 1st floor, and
9 panes on 2nd floor. 4-pane sash over door at second floor
only. Access door to yard on right set in boundary wall.
Windows and doors to No.52 C20 replacements.
INTERIOR not inspected.
