Church, now used as parish hall. Late-C12 nave and N arcade;
C15 chancel, S aisle and tower; C18 porch; internal
re-ordering mid-C20. Limestone with brick porch. Plain tile
roof with stone coping.
PLAN: chancel, 5-bay nave with N and S aisles, S porch, and
2-stage W tower.
EXTERIOR: chancel has single-light E window and, to S, 2-light
cusped windows under square-headed hoodmould.
North aisle: a NE extension has 2-light mullioned window with
leaded quarries, and deep moulded parapet; 2 windows with
renewed Perpendicular tracery and 2 pointed-arched windows,
one of 2 trefoil-headed lights; pointed-arched N door with
replacement door; moulded plinth and eaves course.
South aisle: 2- and 3-light square-headed windows with
hoodmoulds and Perpendicular tracery; moulded plinth course;
buttresses with offsets. Dentilled gable to brick S porch.
West end of N aisle has large 3-light window with geometrical
tracery.
West tower: embattled and with corner gargoyles; offset
buttresses incorporating grotesques; moulded string courses at
parapet, first-stage, and plinth level; projecting stair tower
on N; ringing chamber has ogee-headed openings each with three
louvred trefoil-headed lights; Perpendicular 4-light W window
with deep splay and hoodmould; other chamber and stair lights;
remodelled 4-centred-arched S tower door; defaced niche in S
wall.
INTERIOR: transitional N arcade has round piers with stylised
leaf capitals and single-chamfered arches; Perpendicular S
arcade, now blocked off, has octagonal piers and castellated
capitals (it originally incorporated a former S transept and
encroached on the nave leaving this narrower than chancel);
4-centre-arch with moulded surround to N wall of chancel;
Perpendicular tower arch of 4 orders.
Waggon roofs to chancel and nave; principal rafters and
heavy-scantling chamfered purlins to N aisle; tie-beams,
struts, heaily-moulded ridge-beam and purlins to S aisle.
FITTINGS: include crocketed niche with angel corbel and small
piscina at E end of N aisle; and royal arms over former
chancel arch (now blocked).
The interior was divided mid-C20 to form a series of rooms on
2 levels with staircase inserted at W end.
