Fern House

GV II

House. Late C18 with early C19 remodelling and later
alterations. Red brick in Flemish bond. Renewed plain tile
roof with painted brick dogtooth eaves and brick end stack on
left.
EXTERIOR: 3 storeys and cellar. On 2nd floor three small 3/6
boxed sashes below gauged brick flat arches. On left of 1st
and ground floors, an added two-storey canted bay-window
having 4/4:6/6:4/4 sashes, projecting sills, cornice, flat
leaded roof and cellar grille in brick apron. To its right on
1st floor is name plaque and boxed sash with arch and sill as
above. To its right on ground floor is similar sash and
entrance which has 3 stone steps,
6-panel door, fanlight with radial glazing bars, panelled
reveal, and fluted pilasters supporting entablature with
enriched open pediment. Side-passage entrance to right with
renewed arch. Part-painted brick plinth.
