Terrace of 3 houses, now houses and offices, with attached
area railings. Numbered right to left, described left to
right. c1820-50. Brick with stucco facades, slate roofs,
mansard to Nos 43 and 45, brick and stucco party-wall stacks
with iron railings to Nos 43 and 45.
EXTERIOR: 2 storeys with basements, and with attics to
mansards, 9 first-floor windows (3 per house). Stucco
embellishments include rustication around entrances to Nos 43
and 45, first-floor platband surmounted by fluted Corinthian
pilasters above left and centre entrance bays, missing to
right; continuous frieze (missing to right), cornice and
blocking course. Breakforward to 3rd, 6th and 9th window bays.
6/6 sashes where original, except basement has 8/8 sashes
where original. Continuous first-floor sill band at left and
centre, and with sills throughout. Entrances: 2 to
breakforwards, 1 off-centre right: flights of steps
(roll-edged where original) to 6-panel doors (some
part-glazed), Nos 43 and 45 retain fanlights with Gothic
glazing, No.41 has overlight. Roof dormers to attics partly
concealed by blocking course have casement windows. Right
return: 5 first-floor window range. Former Ionic porch with
pulvinated frieze and modillion cornice, now with windows.
Mainly blind windows with 6/6 sash over porch.
INTERIOR: not inspected.
SUBSIDIARY FEATURES: spearhead railings to sides of steps to
Nos 43 and 45 have bars and dog-bars, also gates to basements
between piers with anthemion cresting; railings continue to
area to No.45; area railings to Nos 43 and 45 have scrolled
lozenge motif. No.41 has area railings with lattice motif.
