GV II

Inn. c1800-1820 with later additions and alterations. Stucco over brick with double pitch slate roof and 4 tall end stucco and brick stacks. Double depth plan with extension to rear.
EXTERIOR: 2 storeys, 3 first-floor windows. First floor has outer flush 6-pane casement windows with margin lights, blind opening to centre. Ground floor has 2 outer canted bays, to centre of left bay are double, part-glaze doors with divided overlight, otherwise early C20 plate-glass windows with divided overlights. Central entrance a 4-flush-panel door with overlight with glazing bars. Low coped parapet. Right return retains 6/6 sashes.
INTERIOR: retains original joinery and layout with bar to left room and snug at right with passage between. Bar retains plank dado and fireplace, panelled bar has renewed counter. Plank panelling to hall. A very rare surviving example of a small early C19 public house with many of its C19 fittings surviving intact, on one of the main approach roads into Cheltenham.
Group value with the Bell Inn (qv).
