GV II

Pair of villas in planned group. Early C19 by John Foulston.
Incised stucco with stucco detail; dry slate hipped roof with
projecting eaves and pediments over slightly projecting end
bays; rendered end stacks. Double-depth plan plus service
wings at right angles to rear centre and entrance porches set
back at left and right.
2 storeys; overall symmetrical 4-bay garden front. Sashes with
fairly large panes, those to ground floor under moulded hoods
on consoles. Return elevations of 3 bays are blind except for
central windows over porches with moulded entablature and
paired unfluted columns; original panelled doors.
INTERIOR: not inspected but likely to be of interest.
Part of a good group of villas by Foulston, set within their
original landscape and thus remarkable in a national context.
