Pair of villas. 1849, by W. Austin. Red brick with gault brick dressings and artificial stone window arches. Slate roofs. Italianate style.
EXTERIOR: 2 storeys; 6-window range. Central giant pilaster. Each house is 3-window range with central recessed half-glazed door under plain fanlight flanked by a double and a triple 1/1 horned sash, the triple sash to the centre of elevation. Arched window heads. Gault brick platband. First floor of each house with central 1/1 horned sash under arched heads, one double 1/1 horned sash to outside and one Venetian window to centre of elevation, with 1/1 horned sashes. Gault brick eaves cornice rising over the 4 larger windows. Shaped gable ends with internal stacks. Central ridge stack. Single recessed bay set back to north and south returns.
No.12 with arched conservatory abutting south return: cast-iron sole plate and cast-iron glazing bars fitted with lap-glazed panes. Rear elevation with 2-storey hipped central extension. 2- and 3-light casements.
INTERIOR: stick-baluster staircases with wreathed handrails and turned newels. 6-panelled doors to principal rooms.
