Trinity Methodist Church

Methodist church. 1880 by Edward Boardman. Brick faced with Kentish Rag with Bath stone dressings; slate roof. Second pointed style.
EXTERIOR: south front (liturgically west) with central moulded arched entrance under gablet containing double timber doors. One arched light right and left lighting narthex flanked by setback buttresses ending in pepper-pot pinnacles. 4-light bar tracery main window and 3 stepped lancets in gable apex. Single-storey quadrant staircase turrets right and left of elevation with stepped-up lancets, containing stairs to south-west turret only.
East and west flanks with 6 stepped side buttresses separating 2-light plate tracery windows. Modillion eaves cornice.
INTERIOR: deep recess in north wall behind moulded pointed arch contains organ by Noterman of London, 1936. Dado panelling to walls with frieze of encircled quatrefoils. Timber altar rails on cast-iron and wrought-iron posts. Timber gallery at south end. Queen-post roof with semicircular braces and arched braces to wall posts. Quarter foiled ashlaring.
