Monument to Anne Burgess, Dulwich Old Burial Ground
GV
II
Tomb chest. Dated 1808. Plain stone chest on brick plinth.
Chest enclosed by spearheaded railings, the corner uprights
topped by thick, bulbous spears. Returns to the base have
blocked segmental-arched openings. Marked E on plan, located
towards centre of the site, just west of Kingsley tomb.
The burial ground, which was consecrated in 1616, was unusual
in not being adjacent to any church or chapel.
The monuments form a group with the C18 gates, walls and
railings to Dulwich Old Burial Ground (qv).
