II
Farmhouse and cottage, now all one dwelling; unoccupied and
renovation in progress at time of inspection (July 1994).
Probably early to mid C18, enlarged and altered as 2 dwellings
in C19. Cement-washed random rubble with quoins, stone slate
roof (slate to rear wing). Formerly L-plan formed by a
single-depth 2-unit range on an east-west axis facing north,
with an outshut to the rear of the east end, then enlarged by
the addition of one unit at the west end, a rear wing in the
angle with the outshut and a further outshut in the west angle
of this.
EXTERIOR: 2 storeys, 3:1 windows. The ground floor has windows
(w) and doorways (d) arranged w-w-d-w-d-w, the doorways
square-headed with renewed board doors, the first window
(probably formerly a fire-window) rectangular with 9-pane
fixed glazing and the others sashed, with vertical glazing
bars only (10, 8 and 8 panes, the first 2 of these being large
and square). All the upper windows are sashed, the 1st and 4th
like those below and those between 16-paned and hornless.
Gable chimneys, that to the left almost square and both with
stone slate cornices. The east (left) gable wall has a small
sash at ground floor and a 2-light chamfered flush mullion
window at 1st floor of the outshut. Rear wing has large sashes
like those at the front.
INTERIOR: not inspected but 2 beams and C18 fireplace visible.
