House. C16. Painted timber-frame with painted brick infill on
concrete plinth. Partly painted brick underbuilding.
Plain-tile roof with projecting bargeboards with ovolo
mouldings. Large rubble stone projecting eaves stack with
tiled offsets and C19 panelled brick shaft with ornamental
cap.
PLAN: 2-bay framed range with rear wing.
EXTERIOR: 2-storey and attic with single-storey wing. C20
entrance door in single-storey rear wing to right. Framed
gable-end to left: square framing 4 panels high with posts,
middle rails and 2 tiers of tension braces. Ground-floor
casement. At first-floor level and continuing along return
side is projecting bressumer with beaded triple-ovolo
moulding. Jowled corner post has residual carved bracket to
slightly projecting wall plate. Gable-end truss with straight
tie beam, 4 vertical struts, double collars with raking struts
separated by a 2-light casement. South-east side: square
framing 4 panels high with 2 tiers of tension braces, posts
with middle rails and studs. 3 first-floor windows with simple
chamfered surrounds with C20 casements inset. Left
ground-floor window has timber double ovolo- and
cavetto-moulded surround, single ovolo moulding to centre and
right windows, all with C20 casements inserted. C20 door.
South-east gable end: framing underbuilt with brick to gable
level with only jowled posts with wall plate brackets
surviving. Brick painted to imitate framing at first floor.
Gable framing as for opposite gable.
North-west side: to left is projecting tiled roofed stone
single-storey extension. Framing above has jowled-foot post,
tension brace and 2-light casement set in chamfered surround.
To centre is projecting stepped stone stack. To right is
framing with bressumer above imitation framing. Tension brace
at first floor with 2-light casement set in chamfered
surround.
