CORELEY

SO67NW Hints Farmhouse

Farmhouse, now house. C16 with C17 alterations. Painted rubble
stone. Painted timber-frame with rendered infill panels.
Painted render to west gable and painted brick underbuilding
to north. Plain clay tile roof. Central inserted stone stack
with spurred brick shaft and projecting C19 brick gable-end
stack. 5-bay longhouse range consisting of 3-bay domestic and
2-bay former agricultural units.
EXTERIOR: single storey and attic. 4-window range north front
of stone rubble to left and 2 bays to the right of timber
framing partly underbuilt in brick and with brick infill
panels. 2 C20 wide casements flanked by C19 2-light casements,
the left-hand of which is inserted in a larger opening now
blocked with stone. Flat painted oak lintels throughout. To
left end is plain boarded door in plain oak door frame. East
gable end has 2 C20 casements with timber lintels. South
front: to left is square-framed bay 3 panels high
incorporating C20 glazed door. Remaining wall is stone rubble
with various C19 and C20 casements under concealed or painted
flat lintels. Central C20 entrance door in plain frame. 2
tiled gabled dormers with C20 casements. West gable end with
painted rendered apex over rubble wall partly covered by brick
end stack and tiled roofed stone lean-to.
INTERIOR: inserted C17 floor in central bay of former 3-bay
domestic range with deeply chamfered bridging and cross
bridging beams infilling original open hall. Square-framed
internal cross-wall truss.
