House. Late C17-early C18. Brick, with storey bands at first
and attic floors to front and sides, dentil course eaves at
rear. Brick plinth with ashlar capping. Plain old tile roof
with brick coped parapet gables. Projecting brick gable-end
stacks with tiled offsets and 2 diagonal shafts to right and
later single shaft to left. Main range with rear lean-to
extension.
EXTERIOR: 2 storeys and attic. South front is a 4-window range
of 2- and 3-light C20 casements in original oak frames but
with some C20 complete replacements. Central lean-to entrance
porch with C20 casement over brick round-arched opening, with
ashlar keystone and springers and brick string course stepped
over arch. C20 boarded door with original oak door frame with
chamfer with ogee stops.
Left-hand gable end: door frame with chamfer with ogee stops
to left of projecting stack with bread oven to right. Windows
with brick hoodmoulds at first and attic floors flanking
central stack, all now brick-blocked except for a first-floor
C20 casement in original oak frame to left of stack.
Right-hand gable end: 2 blocked windows on each floor flanking
central stack. One unblocked single casement at first floor
and 2-light casement at ground floor. C20 fenestration in
lean-to to right.
Rear: scattered C20 fenestration. Boarded door to left with
chamfered door frame with ogee chamfer stops.
INTERIOR: chamfered bridging beams with ogee stops. The attic
stretches the full length of the house and was perhaps used as
a drying room.
