Shown on OS map as Lower House Farmhouse.
Farmhouse, now house. Late C16 in origin with C17, C18 and
later alterations. Stone rubble, painted timber frame with
brick and painted rendered infill panels, painted brick.
Plain-tile roofs. 3 projecting eaves stacks of brick, rubble
and render each with brick upper shafts, 2 small later ridge
stacks. L-shaped main ranges, lower parallel 2-bay range with
single-bay cross wing, and 2 smaller gabled extension wings.
EXTERIOR: 2 storeys. North-east front with central gable
partly covering framed gable to left and main range to far
left, gable of parallel range to right. Central gable with one
6/6 sash to each floor and front entrance doorway of flat
pilasters, brackets and flat canopy to right. Covered gable
consists of close-studded gable-truss with casement; main
range to left masked by C20 extensions and large projecting
stack; gable to right with casement at each storey.
South-east side: main range overhanging gabled end supported
on C20 brick piers at sides, gable truss of cambered tie beam,
vertical struts, cambered collar and twin raking struts; large
brick projecting stack and single-storey C20 extension to
right; set back to left is gable of parallel range of framed
gable truss with C20 casement interrupting tie beam, vertical
struts and collar, 3-light casement in stone walls below.
North-west side: long side of parallel range to left of 2-bay
square framing 4 panels high, brick projecting stack dividing
bays and rendered stack to right of bays, single casement to
right over partly glazed panelled door, C20 casement to
ground-floor left. Cross wing gable to right with gable truss
with 2-light casement interrupting tie beam, vertical struts
and collar, blocked window in stone walls below.
Rear: to left, the side of the parallel range cross wing with
blocked window over 3-light casement; central small rendered
gabled extension wing; to right, C18 painted brick 2-window
range with 4-light and 2-light first-floor casements over C20
casements.
