Farmhouse. c1600 with later alterations. Painted timber frame
with painted brick infill panels and some painted imitation
timber frame, cement rendered to rear. Plain-tile roofs with
overhanging verges, central stone ridge stack with triple
square brick shafts, rendered brick integral eaves stack.
T-shaped plan of 3-bay main range and 2-bay cross wing.
EXTERIOR: 2 storeys, cross wing lower. North-east front has
main range to left, cross wing to right. Main range of 3
framed bays of square framing 2 panels high over first-floor
girding beam, and rectangular panelling below 2 panels high.
Straight tension brace to left, three 2-light casements at
first floor, central C19 door under lean-to tiled porch and
3-light casement to right. Left-hand return gable cement
rendered with single casement.
Cross wing gable-end truss of cambered tie beam and collar
with 6 vertical struts below and twin swept raking struts
above; jettied chamfered bressumer set on simple ogee-curved
brackets with close studded framing on each floor which
incorporates at each corner post on each floor a straight
tension and arch brace forming a diagonal pattern. 2-light
wood casement at first floor and original face-fixed mullion
window at ground floor.
Diagonal tension and arch bracing with close studded framing
repeated on the short left-hand return side and the 2-bay long
right-hand return side. Rear side of main range and end gable
of cross wing covered with cement render with C20 mostly metal
casements.
