House with shop. C18/early C19. Brick with stone dressings,
all colourwashed, hipped Welsh slate roof, brick chimney
stacks.
EXTERIOR: 2 storeys with attic, 2 bays. Late C19 shop window
to ground floor, with central recessed doorway with fanlight,
thin mullions, rounded top corners; deep fascia with moulded
cornice. The shop front is returned to the left in 2 panes in
the same detail, and continues is same detail to No.78 (qv)
adjoining, right. At first floor are two 12-pane sash windows
in plain surrounds, with gauged brick flat arched heads and
slim keystone; 12-pane sash on return over shop window.
No.windows to attic. At each end are bold alternating
rusticated quoins, with a rough coved cornice, and blocking
course.
INTERIOR: the ground floor modified, but late C18 staircase
with hardwood handrail, turned newels and stick balusters
survives from ground floor to attic, some partitions and
doorcases survive at both levels. Later extension to rear.
Building has suffered slight settlement-shop front leans one
way and upper building the other.
