House associated with forge (forge demolished). C17 with later
alterations and C20 additions to rear. Timber-frame with
rendered infill on coursed limestone plinth, higher to rear
due to slope of ground; steeply pitched machine tile roof with
brick cross-axial stacks. L-plan, front to right.
EXTERIOR: 2 storeys; 2-window range with later single-storey
service range to right. Re-entrant porch has return entrance
with plank door and narrow windows with C19 lattice casements.
2-light small paned casement to 1st floor; wing to left has
C19 hipped bay window with 1:3:1-light glazing and triangular
oriel above; inner return has 1st floor 3-light leaded
casement. Left return has high plinth, and lean-to outshut to
right of dressed stone bulge under lean-to roof. Rear similar,
with varied fenestration including hipped bay and 2 triangular
oriels.
