ATHERSTONE ON STOUR

Farmhouse. Early-mid C18. Brick; hipped tile roof with brick
ridge stacks. Early Georgian style. Double-depth plan.
EXTERIOR: 2 storeys plus attic; symmetrical 5-window range.
Ashlar plinth, moulded brick cornice over ground floor and top
modillioned cornice. Entrance has C19/C20 gabled wood porch.
Windows have rubbed brick flat arches over 12-pane sash
windows in wide cased frames; 2 hipped dormers. 2-window
returns have some blocked windows, cross-casements and 12-pane
horned sashes.
Rear has plat band over ground floor and boxed eaves;
segmental-headed windows have sills and cross-casements,
including central stair window; ground floor has blocked
window to left end with original casement and attached
single-storey service wing with addition with single-pitch
slate roof. Entrance in parapeted porch to right has C19
6-panel door to return and small round-headed front window.
INTERIOR: not inspected, but noted as having staircase with
early C18 turned balusters.
