Threshing Barn at Beaumont Hill Farm

Threshing barn. Probably early C18 with C19 rebuilding and
outshuts to west facade and with probably C17 range to north.
The west facade is interrupted to left (north) by linking
range to C19 stables, the east facade now partly obscured by
C20 open cow shelters. Timber-framed with pinkish-brown brick
nogging and red brick rebuilding with plain-tile roof.
EXTERIOR: 5-bay threshing barn with further bay to north and 2
outshuts under catslide roofs to west, porch to east. Opposing
central double plank threshing doors, those to front between 2
outshuts, those to rear in gable-ended porch with
collar-and-tie-beam truss with queen posts in gable.
Otherwise west facade has plank split stable doors to right,
between 2 elliptically-arched openings with pitching door
above, all with plank covers; C20 4-light casement to left;
further plank door to outshut. Rectangular panels of
timber-framing to west facade of north range, also visible to
east facade and to south gable end.
INTERIOR: similar panels of timber-framing remain to west wall
where now covered by outshuts. Roof: altogether (including to
gable ends) there are 5 collar-and-tie-beam trusses with queen
posts and one with angle struts; 2 tiers of original purlins
and ridge piece. To either side of threshing floor are
cross-frames and low walls.
Forms a group with Beaumont Hill Farmhouse (qv).
