Terraced houses. Early C19. Stucco, roofs obscured by parapet.
EXTERIOR: 3 storeys over basement, one-window range. Ground
floor decorated with banded rustication. Round-arched
entrance, doorcase with fanlight. Ground-floor windows
segmental-arched and set in a recessed segmental- arched panel
of plain stucco; storey band; first- and second-floor windows
flat-arched and flanked by pairs of Ionic pilasters
irregularly disposed; balcony to first-floor windows with
cast-iron balustrade; entablature and blocking course, stacks
to party walls. Cast-iron area railings with spearhead
finials.
The following variations apply: Nos 9-10 have flat-arched
entrances and Ionic pilasters flanking only the first-floor
windows with their own entablature; the second-floor windows
are flanked by plain Doric pilasters in pairs which have lost
some of their details and carry a cornice and blocking course
only; cornice on consoles over individual second-floor
windows. No.12 has decorative glazing bars to fanlight, canted
bay to basement, ground and first floors, second-floor window
altered with cornice on consoles over, and only one pilaster
to first and second floors. No.14 has decorative glazing to
fanlight and sashes of original design incorporating margin
lights to all windows. Nos 16-18 have sashes of original
design with margin lights to all windows, and No.18 also has
decorative glazing to the fanlight, and cornice on consoles
over second-floor windows. No.20 has decorative glazing to
fanlight, cornice on consoles to second-floor windows, and no
area railings. No.22 has decorative glazing to fanlight and
railings to steps only. No.24 has cornice on consoles over
second-floor windows and no railings to area. No.26 has sashes
of original design to first floor with margin lights. No.28
has flat-arched entrance, no pilasters, and a shallow
segmental oriel to the first-floor windows with sashes of
original design.
