Pair of houses, now flats and house, with attached railings.
c1830-1840 with later additions and alterations including
extensions to rear. Pinkish-brown brick with painted stucco to
front and side facades, cement-tile roof and cast-iron
railings.
EXTERIOR: 2 storeys with basement, 6 first-floor windows
arranged 3:3. Symmetrical design with central projection and
plain pilaster strips to each end. Central entrances, C20
part-glazed door to left and 6-panel door to right. Fielded
panel reveals. Surround has Tuscan pilasters, frieze with
fielded panels, replacement cornice to left and hood to right.
Windows: from left, 6/6 sash, bay window with 2/2 between 1/1
sashes; two 6/6 sashes, all sash windows in tooled surrounds
and with sills. First floor: blind central opening to left
house, otherwise 6/6 sashes, all in tooled surrounds and with
sills. Basement has C20 casements. Frieze, moulded cornice,
blocking course. End stacks.
INTERIOR: retain original joinery and plasterwork including
moulded cornices to No.5, dogleg staircase with stick
balusters to No.7.
SUBSIDIARY FEATURES: lancet area railings.
