Terraced houses. c1818. Probably by Amon Wilds and Amon Henry
Wilds. Stucco to ground floor, brick (now painted) above, roof
of Welsh slate where visible, that to No.52 turnerised.
EXTERIOR: 4 storeys over basement, one-window range. Nos 53-54
project slightly as a centrepiece. Ground floor decorated with
banded rustication; Ionic prostyle porches, the entablature
detail lost on No.55; round-arched entrance with fanlight, Nos
51-52 having decorative glazing; segmental bay to ground and
first floors and broader to first floor, with tripartite
windows, the tripartite arrangement lost on first floors of
Nos 51-54; cornice to bay; balconies to first-floor windows
with cast-iron railings, that to No.54 almost completely lost;
canopy to No.52; sashes of original design to Nos 51 ground
and second floor, 55 first, second and third floors, and 56
first floor; cornice over second-floor windows, attic windows
segmental-arched and set back under a segmental arch; parapet,
raised to Nos 53-54, dormers in mansard roof to Nos 52-4 and
56; stacks to party walls.
INTERIOR: not inspected.
Cast-iron railings to steps and area with conical finials.
