Terraced houses. c1835. Probably designed by Amon Wilds and
Charles Augustin Busby. Stucco. Roof of slate.
3 storeys and attic over half basement. 3-window range.
Elevation treated as full-height and almost full-width
segmental bay. Up steps to round-arched entrance with
fanlight; door with coloured, leaded glass panels of mid to
late C19 date. Entrance to left side of bay set under prostyle
porch of 2 fluted Doric columns, entablature, the frieze of
which has key pattern. To right 2 flat-arched windows set in
ground floor of banded rustication. All windows flat arched.
First-floor balcony with cast-iron railings. Giant Tuscan
pilasters to first and second floors, supporting a
round-arched, blind arcade of 3 bays; windows are grouped
under the arcade; projecting cornice stops short of party
walls. The top fascia of the cornice serves as sill to attic
windows. Parapet with coping. 2 flat-arched dormers of late
C20 date in mansard roof. Stacks to party walls.
INTERIOR: not inspected. Cast-iron railings to stairs and
area. Nos 20-31 (qv) form a group.
