House, now restaurant. Late C18 or early C19. Brick in Flemish
bond. Gambrel roof of tile.
2 storeys and dormer over basement. One-window range. C19 shop
front to ground floor. Canted bay to first floor with
tripartite, flat-arched windows with sashes of an early C19
design: lower sash of 8 panes to centre window and 4 x 4
sashes to sides. One flat-arched dormer with 6 x 6 sashes of
an early C19 design. Brick dentil cornice to shallow, guttered
eaves.
INTERIOR: not inspected.
Nos 26-31 and 33-36 East Street (qv) face onto what is, in
effect, a small square, which is formed by the widening of
East Street at its northern end. Legend has it that this whole
group was built on the site of a small wharf on an inlet from
the sea.
