Church of St Nicholas DYKE ROAD.
Headstone to Sake Deen Mahomed. c1851. Stone. In the angle of
the north aisle and the covered passage to Church Street.
Mahomed opened 'Mahomed's Baths' in King's Road, Brighton in
1786, and these were the first vapour or Turkish baths in
Britain. He published several books and pamphlets on his
methods, and was appointed 'Shampooing Surgeon' to King George
IV.
