Pair of houses, now flats. Probably 1840s; altered.
White-painted render on brick, with black painted dressings;
slate roof. Double-depth plan, each house double-fronted.
EXTERIOR: 3 storeys; 3 plus 3 windows. Symmetrical except that
the third bay of each breaks forward slightly; with a plinth.
First-floor sill band, plain frieze and moulded cornice with
blocking course.
Each has a tall doorway in a pilastered architrave with plain
frieze and moulded cornice (and C20 glazed double doors), and
at first floor above the doorway a tall window with a
pedimented architrave; flanked by 2-storey canted bay windows
with cornices to both levels, and those at No.49 with blind
balustrading to the aprons of those at first floor. All these
windows are C20 top-hung casements with glazing bars (15 panes
to the main lights). At second floor both have smaller 9-pane
windows. Roof with 2 cut-down chimneys on the front slope and
a flat-roofed dormer to No.49.
INTERIOR: not inspected.
