GV II

Pair of houses. Probably late C17 or early C18; enlarged and
partly rebuilt in late C18; altered, and repairs to No.189 in
1992. Brick, No.189 rendered and the facades of both painted
white; thatched roofs except left wing of No.187 which is
slate. L-plan formed by single-depth 3-unit main range (No.189
being the second and third units) plus receding wing to left
of No.187, and some additions to rear.
EXTERIOR: the main range is single-storey; one plus 3
small-paned 3-light windows (the first a sliding sash and the
others casements).
Doorway to No.189 between the third and fourth windows, with a
board door. 3 small square chimneys: one at each gable and
another at the junction.
The left wing of No.187: 2 storeys, with a very shallow
pitched roof; board door to the right, a small 2-light sliding
sash window to the left and a slightly larger casement above;
its left return wall, of unpainted brick, has 2 restored
3-light windows at ground floor of the rear bay, sliding sash
windows of 3 and 2 lights immediately under the eaves, and a
side-wall chimney.
Rear gable has small 2-light sliding sash window.
