House, altered for a shop, now private dwelling. Dated 1806 at
first floor; altered. Red Brick in English Garden wall bond (5
plus one courses), slate roof. Double-depth double-fronted
plan, with small back extension.
EXTERIOR: 2 storeys; 2-windows range. Formerly symmetrical.
The ground floor has a round-headed doorway with
open-pedimented architrave, 3-panel door and plain fanlight.
To the left an inserted C19 shop window and doorway with
part-glazed door and rectangular plate-glass window under a
plain fascia with cornice; to the right a 2/2 sash with raised
sill and wedge lintel. The first floor has 2 similar windows,
and a quatrefoil datestone in the centre inscribed: B/MA/1806.
Gable chimneys.
INTERIOR: not inspected.
Forms group with No.55 (qv) and No.57 (qv) adjoining to the
right, and with Nos 56-62 (qv) and Nos 68-86 (qv) opposite.
