2 semi-detached houses. c1729. For J Davis, with later
alterations and mid C19 extension at south end. Brown brick
with plain brick bands at floor levels and beneath parapet;
stucco extension. Massive slate mansard roofs with dormers.
3 storeys, attics and basements. No.45, 3 windows and half
blind window; No.46, 5 windows. No.45, entrance in side
extension has wooden doorcase with Corinthian fluted pilasters
on pedestals and architrave curved upwards to centre of
frieze; panelled door with overlight. No.46, wooden prostyle
portico with Doric columns on pedestals and dentil pediment;
fanlight and panelled door. Gauged red brick flat arches to
flush C20 2-pane sashes. Lead rainwater head between houses
has inscription "DIE 1729".
INTERIORS: not inspected but interior of No.46 noted to retain
fine panelling, in particular C18 entrance hall. No.45 noted
to retain panelling and other features.
SUBSIDIARY FEATURES: attached wrought-iron railings to areas.
