Mausoleum of Lord Dalziel of Wooler
in Highgate (Eastern) Cemetery

Mausoleum of Davison Dalziel, Lord Dalziel of Wooler, d.1928.
Large mausoleum of pink granite. Octagonal, with pairs of
Doric columns at the angles. Open pedimental doorcase with
panelled bronze doors sporting lion mask bosses, reached by
flight of steps. Rusticated walls. Central skylight and
circular window to rear wall with bronze enrichment.
HISTORICAL NOTE: Dalziel was a magnate with interests in
transport, rubber and publishing. He was responsible for the
introduction of the motor cab to London, and of Pullman
carriages to the British railways system.
