GV II

Two houses, now divided in three and part shop. Late C16/early C17 to left (No.
246) refronted in C18, early C18 to right over C17 cellar. Timber framed core to
left,refronted in dark red/brown brick extending across to right; plain tiled
roofs,hipped to left and obscured by parapet to right. No. 246 to left:- Two
storeys with five courses of brick rustication on end piers to first floor. Brick
modillioned eaves cornice to base of parapet and end stack to left. Three window
front with outer glazing-bar sash windows in open sash boxes, the lower sashes
without glazing-bars, centre window now blocked. Plate glass shop front across
the ground floor. Nos. 244 and 246A to right. Three storeys with plat band over
first floor and moulded brick eaves. Rebuilt stacks to right end. Two cambered-
head six-pane sashes to second floor, two plate glass sash windows on the first
floor in older sash boxes. Early C20 shop front below with door to right.
Interior:- Cellar rooms to right in Nos 244 and 246A with stopped and chamfered
joists in rear chamber, later C17 stopped and chamfered beam to front. C18 stair-
case above on first and second floors with balustrades. Early C18 fireplace
surround in ground floor and panelled room and arch to rear.
