Isolation hospital, now disused. 1878, by George Fowler Jones. Mid C20 additions. Yellow brick, with ashlar and red brick dressings, and slate roofs. Large, coped side wall and ridge stacks. Italianate style. Plinth and sill bands. Windows are segment headed glazing bar sashes with polychrome heads. Central administration block, 2 storeys, with single storey service block to rear and an angled ward wing, single storey, on each side. Half-butterfly plan. Central block has 2 windows on each floor and hipped roof with dentillated eaves. On each side, a short corridor, single storey, with one window to left and 2 to right. Ward wings, T-plan, have hipped projections next to the corridor, with single windows. On the inner sides of the wards, lean-to sun rooms, mid C20. Outer ends have gables with open verandahs, flanked by sanitary blocks. Verandahs, 3 bays, have segmental polychrome arches on cast iron columns with waterleaf capitals. Above, 3 pairs of small round arched windows, and above again, a round louvred opening with 4 keystones. Under the verandah, fitted benches, a doorway and 2 windows. Sanitary blocks have a small window on each side. Service block has hipped roof and 3 windows.
